Description

Uniting people – connecting cultures

The World Expo 2025 will take place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 in Osaka (Japan) and will revolve around the motto “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. It’s aim is to promote sustainability, innovation and cultural diversity, as well as to make an important contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Around 28 million visitors are expected over the course of the event.

Luxembourg will also be represented in Osaka: The Grand Duchy aims to present itself as an innovative and open country that boasts a wealth of talent, a vibrant cultural scene and a wide range of tourist attractions as well as a reliable partner.

The concept behind the Luxembourg Pavilion is “Doki Doki - The Luxembourg Heartbeat”, which reflects the Expo’s theme of “Connecting Lives”. The Pavilion, designed by the Luxembourg architectural firm STDM, is based on the principles of the circular economy: It is “designed for disassembly”, i.e. manufactured using only the most essential materials and in such a way that components can be reused. An example of this is the fact that the Pavilion was built using standard Japanese construction components, with Luxembourg and Japanese companies collaborating closely.

Visitors can expect an inviting, and at times interactive, introduction to both Luxembourg’s society and the country’s innovative energy, as well as a journey of discovery through the Grand Duchy’s landscapes and culture. The Keelebunn, a traditional bowling alley, is one of the Pavilion’s highlights, presenting Luxembourg’s convivial mentality and its sporting tradition in a fun and hands-on way
