Due to high demand, the P&T has issued two new Christmas stamps for the 2012 holidays.

Christmas 2012 series

These stamps, with a graphic design, were created by Michel Olmic.

The Stamp Office issued two Christmas stamps in 2012:

  • for national postage: face value of €0.60 + €0.05
  • for European postage: face value of €0.85 + €0.10

The artist

Michel Olmic was born in 1952 in Leopoldville (formerly Belgian Congo). He works at Editions Dupuis (Brussels) where he designs magazine covers.

In 2004, Olmic won the prize for the most beautiful stamp of Luxembourg. His winning stamp featured Müllerthal and was designed for the Europa stamp theme "Holidays". The Stamp Office issued his first stamp design in 2002.

Throughout his career in Europe and the United States he has created a large range of quality products. A clothing line (Schiesser), collections of porcelain (Thomas-Rosenthal), puzzles (Milton Bradley), and more than 100 Christmas cards. Michel Olmic worked for an advertising agency before designing magazine covers such as SPIROU and Télé Moustique for the Editions Dupuis (Brussels).

He studied plastic arts and illustration at Saint-Luc, Brussels (Belgium).

He completed his training with Charles Rohonyi, a great graphic designer and Hungarian poster artist of Bauhaus. It was Rohonyi who named him OLMIC.

Stamp format: 35 x 35 mm, 12 stamps per sheet with decorated border.
