Special stamp set – Classic cars

After the trades of yesteryear, POST Philately has launched a new set of charity stamps. In 2014, four vintage cars are featured.
In total, 16 classic cars are represented. These cars were registered in Luxembourg and driven around Europe. This series of stamps was produced in collaboration with the Veteran and Vintage Car Club of Luxembourg asbl.
De Dion-Bouton, vis-à-vis, Type D, 1899
This stamp features the Model D from 1899 in its factory state, with its original identification number, chassis and bodywork.
In 1882, the company De Dion-Bouton was created and with it, the entire French car industry. In 1889, the first combustion was invented by the Marquis Albert de Dion and Georges Bouton.
The first car wasn't made available until 1899. This was the Model D, vis-à-vis (face to face).

The artist

Mark Heine is a Canadian artist who has worked on stamp designs for the Canadian, United States, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg post offices. In total, the artist has designed illustrations for 40 stamp commissions.
Born in 1961, into a family of artists, Mark Heine was awarded the BC Lieutenant-Governor's Art Scholarship at age 18. Four years later, he graduated with honours from the Applied Arts Program at Capilano University.
The artist currently lives in beautiful Victoria on Vancouver Island, with his partner and their two daughters.

This stamp features a picture of the Peugeot Bébé. This car allowed Peugeot to establish itself in a new market in 1904
The Peugeot Bébé or Baby was built in Audincourt, France. The Type 69 was unique in that it used rack and pinion steering.

This stamp shows an Opel 10/20 which was found in a barn in East Germany and which was restored in 1998.
Following the fall of the iron curtain in 1989, an old Opel 10/20 was discovered in the barn of a farm in East Germany. The car needed substantial refurbishment. After extensive research, the car was finally fully restored in 1998.

This stamps shows a Renault AX, a very popular model at the start of the 20th century
This car had a very simple design, allowing theRenault AX to be mass produced. It was a popular car, and was sold at a modest price for an car with two-seater chassis bodywork.
