Description

The University of Luxembourg was founded in 2003 and has since become the new powerhouse of Luxembourg. So it is no coincidence that it has built its headquarters on the Belval Campus, an entirely new urban area in the South of the Grand Duchy. Belval was formerly the beating heart of Luxembourg’s steel industry and now takes on a new role as a place to live and to innovate. Some 25,000 people, including 7,000 students and 3,000 scientists, will eventually live, work, and study in this area which is the size of 120 football pitches. Between old blast furnaces becoming museums, new laboratories and study halls, researchers from around the world will do new work of scientific, social, and economic importance for the development of Luxembourg and the wider world.
