The Natural History Museum played host to a travelling exhibition "Soil, a treasure trove". The exhibition answered questions about the environment, why soil is valuable, its composition, how it is used, and how soil can be preserved.

post philately issued these stamps following a post luxembourg stamp illustration competition, which was part of the "le sol une boite aux tresors" (soil, a treasure trove) exhibition

in 2014, in partnership with the natural history museum, post luxembourg organised a design competition with the theme "the soil, this essential living environment". over 1,600 children and teenagers, from primary (year 3+4) and secondary schools took part.
