To mark its 75th anniversary, this postage stamp issued by Post Luxembourg pays tribute to the Luxembourg Amateur Radio Society.

The Réseau Luxembourgeois des Amateurs d'Ondes Courtes (Luxembourg Amateur Radio Society) was founded in 1937. It has changed its name for its 75th anniversary and has become Radioamateurs du Luxembourg.



Radio amateurs establish radio connections with other amateurs for no financial gain. They are able to communicate with other radio amateurs in Luxembourg and around the world.
 Luxembourg has some 500 stations, and there are about 2.75 million stations worldwide.

Radio amateurs discuss topics relating to radio equipment, antennas, wave propagation and other related scientific subjects (meteorology, IT, astronomy, etc.). They also discuss matters relating to the day-to-day life of the amateur radio operative.



Radio amateurs have a duty to avoid raising political and religious topics.
Radio communication is possible using a combined transmitter-receiver device, known as a transceiver. The equipment used is often built by radio amateurs themselves.
