How did you approach the theme of "Musical instruments" for the Europa 2014 stamps?
First I did research to see if there are any traditional Luxembourgish musical instruments. For example, I found out that the saxophone was invented by a Belgian called Sax. Sadly, according my research there are no typical Luxembourgish instruments. This is why I have depicted music in general, but with reference to Luxembourg culture.
How would you describe the differences between the stamps?
One stamp is more colourful and lively than the other so is more eye-catching. It shows a group of musicians wearing traditional peasant costumes playing the Hämmelsmarsch, on traditional instruments.
The other stamp shows another typical musical scene in Luxembourg: a folk group playing in a small village.
