100th anniversary of the Luxembourg Olympic Committee
The Luxembourg Olympic Committee (COSL) includes 61 sporting federations. Consistent with its mission to promote all levels of sport and sporting practice in Luxembourg, the COSL also supports competitive sports federations and invests in leisure sports and school sports.
In 2001, COSL carried out a review of its internal structures. This allowed for greater professionalism, without which performances at the highest level would not be possible.
In 1974, following a complete restructuring of the Luxembourg Olympic and sporting movement, COSL represented all of Luxembourg's sporting federations and organisations of a sporting nature. Four years later, the government's cabinet recognised COSL as the central sporting organisation.
The Luxembourg Olympic Committee (COSL) was founded in 1912. This was the same year as its first participation in the Olympic Games (Stockholm). Since then, COSL has participated in all Summer Olympic Games (with the exception of the Los Angeles games in 1932).
