Description

The Games usually take place at the end of May or beginning of June. The programme includes the following sports: athletics, swimming, judo, shooting, tennis and table tennis.

There are also two team sports, one of which must be basketball or volleyball. The event organiser may include two additional sports subject to approval by the Executive Committee. One of these must be recognised at Olympic level.

Nine countries participate in the Games of the Small States of Europe: Cyprus, Montenegro, Malta, Iceland, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino and Luxembourg.

Luxembourg was the games host in 2013. To mark the occasion, a commemorative double stamp with decorated borders was issued in May.

About the commemorative stamp

In 2013 the Games of the Small States of Europe will be broadcast using electronic communication devices for the first time. The Games can be followed via the internet using any device - computer, tablet or smartphone.

The mascot chosen for the Games is a robot, to highlight the evolution of Games of the Small States of Europe toward modern communication methods.
