What is the “Multilaterale”?
The Multilaterale is an initiative that came from the Philatelist Associations of the German-speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg) as well of Slovenia and the Netherlands.
The 2017 Multilaterale in s’Hertogenbosch
This year, the Dutch Philatelist Association and the Dutch Post Office will organise the exhibition from the 25th to 27th of August in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Because Luxembourg will be organising the next exhibition in 2019, PostNL and POST Luxembourg will issue for this matter a joint postage stamp block for 2017.
You’ve already designed other stamps, what was special about this one for you personally?
Being a Dutch national from birth and Luxembourgish resident for 12 years, both countries feel like home to me. It is the first time both countries issued a stamp sheet together. Both clients gave me the freedom to achieve the job. It is great to work for people who trust you.
What is it in particular that you’d like to emphasise with the motif?
During the Multilaterale, 7 countries will come together. I wanted my illustration to visualise this unity. I combined them into an imaginary skyline running from the North Sea (left) to the Matterhorn (right).
